EnVie recommends wearing a maternity bra because:

  • it expands with the breasts without cutting into the skin.
  • it has an integrated support system for the expanding breast.
  • it minimises and even helps to prevent stretch marks and deformation of the breast.
  • it is made from materials specially selected for comfort, preventing irritation of sensitive breasts.
  • its wide, softly padded straps ease strain on the shoulders and neck area.

When should you start wearing a maternity bra? – When your existing bras no longer fit, or from the 4th month onwards. (more…)

You need to find out both the back size and the cup size. You can either measure wearing a bra (as long as it is not padded or none at all. If you have extra large/heavy breasts, hold them up and measure around them. Work in metric as it is more accurate than inches.
Measure around your body underneath the breasts. The tape measure should be pulled snug against your body, as the band of your bra would be. Tip – the band of the bra should be firm but comfortable around your body.

If you cannot run your finger under the band easily, it is too tight. However, if the band is too loose it will ride up your back. It is also worth remembering that the fit of your bra when you receive it will be tighter than when you have worn it ‘in’ in a couple of weeks time and the fabrics have become softer with washing and wearing.
