Anita Maternity – 125 Years In The Know!

ANITA has been a family run company for 125 years, concentrating on the design and production of superb quality specialist lingerie and swimwear lines for women.

Anita maternity is specially designed for you fashion conscious breast-feeding mum’s and mums-to-be. The collection contains fashion forward lingerie that combines superior comfort and fit with beautiful feminine designs and superb functionality. (After all these bras have to work much harder than their regular counterparts to adapt to pregnant and nursing mothers’ ever changing bust line.)

The Cherry blush lightly padded nursing bra pictured here has been their most popular nursing bra of the season, designed using a high percentage of cotton it will comfortably accommodate changes in cup size during breast-feeding. The smooth foam cups are lined with luxurious cotton to lay softly against the skin keeping you relaxed and comfortable during those wonderful bonding moments with your baby. The concealing material means that nursing pads won’t show through while the extra wide opening and the patented KwikKlip release means that access is simple and easy to do one handed leaving your other hand free to hold and protect your baby.

Anita maternity – Because maternity bras are not all made equal…

WHY DO YOU NEED A MATERNITY BRA?

Becoming pregnant is a stage in your life that will never be forgotten. The feeling of your baby growing inside you is a wonderful and magical experience and one that can make you forget how important it is to consider your body changes effectively as you progress through pregnancy.

By the third or fourth month your breasts will have begun to change and it is the right time to be fitted for a Maternity Bra. The breast can become 300-500g heavier during pregnancy as the mammary glands grow and this puts surrounding skin and tissue under considerable strain.

When being fitted for an Anita Maternity Bra, you should find that the underbust band can be adjusted two or three times as you change with pregnancy and the cup is made from special materials to allow it to expand with your breast size. If fitted correctly at the beginning, you should find you can wear the same bra throughout your entire pregnancy.

WHY DO YOU NEED A NURSING BRA?

Breastfeeding has been proven to be beneficial to both mother and baby and can provide a special bonding time between you. Additionally, the health benefits for you both are very rewarding, providing mum with an aide to recovery after birth as the breastfeeding hormones restore the womb to its normal shape and the extra calorie consumption helps to aid weight loss.

Anita’s nursing bras are designed to be super comfortable to protect the particularly sensitive breast during nursing, with seamless, pre-formed cups on most models. The patented KwikKlip system allows easy opening of the front panel with one hand, keeping your other hand free to hold and protect your baby and on underwired styles a naturally shaping soft underwiring for a perfect fit and unrestricted milk flow during feeding.

Kimberley Walsh outside the Haven, Leeds

We were recently asked to visit The Haven at Leeds which is a centre for ladies (and men) undergoing breast cancer treatments. Well, what a fantastic place, a truly amazing team of staff and the building is out of this world. The centre was founded by local businesses in and around Leeds which generousely contribute to the charity. There is an abundance of cosy rooms, all with a unique theme offering expert counselling sessions and various alternative treatments, one of many being Reike.

We were there to share our expert fitting knowledge of the specialist ranges we stock from Anita including Mastectomy lingerie and swimwear ranges which are recommended by many doctors if you are undergoing chemo, lumpsectomy, mastectomy, bi-mastectomy or radio-therapy. It was an exceptionally hectic morning and was great to meet and help so many wonderful ladies in the course of the day. If you are undergoing treatments of any kind for breast cancer or recovering and are in the Leeds or London area please get in touch with them, they have so much to offer! http://www.breastcancerhaven.org.uk/?gclid=CNbMxI-OsqICFRUslAodHCQJSA

At last a firm supportive underwired nursing bra up to I cup!

Large Cup underwired nursing bra with firm support

Anita have been making bras for over 100 years and specialise in great fitting nursing and maternity bras. The best selling bra by far is the 5068 underwired nursing bra, which is thankfully now available in an I cup. A simple yet very functional nursing bra offering firm support (and not ‘grandma-ish!) The stretch is just enough to be comfortable, but not enough to let you sag at all. (more…)

EnVie recommends wearing a maternity bra because:

  • it expands with the breasts without cutting into the skin.
  • it has an integrated support system for the expanding breast.
  • it minimises and even helps to prevent stretch marks and deformation of the breast.
  • it is made from materials specially selected for comfort, preventing irritation of sensitive breasts.
  • its wide, softly padded straps ease strain on the shoulders and neck area.

According to the latest medical and psychological research breastfeeding not only has a beneficial effect on the baby’s physical development, but also on its intelligence.
- mother’s milk protects the baby against infections and allergies.
- the close physical contact during breastfeeding gives the baby a feeling of security.
- breastfeeding has a beneficial effect on the baby’s intelligence, as suckling stimulates the nerve and muscle function.
- for the mother, breastfeeding provides protection against infection and reduced the risk of bleeding after birth.
-the breastfeeding hormones help restore the womb to its normal shape.
- the additional calorie consumption aids weight loss.
A functional, well-designed nursing bra is necessary to maintain the shape and support of the bust during the breastfeeding period. Nursing bras are made from skin-kind materials as breasts and nipples can be extra sensitive at this time.
