Family business Anita Dr. Helbig celebrates Anita Lingerie 125th anniversary!

My great-grandfather, Ernst Max Helbig, founded our company in Dresden in 1886. Even back then it specialised in body belts, corsages and orthopaedic articles. His son, Dr. Walter Helbig, then took control of the company in the 1930s together with his wife Martha, the former secretary of Ernst Max Helbig.

It was thanks to Martha Helbig’s exceptional commitment to the product that, by the Second World War, the company had grown to become a prominent manufacturer of corsetry, corsages and bandages. Even then, particular attention was paid to different body shapes and perfect fit.

After the company was destroyed in Dresden in 1945, the business was moved to rented premises in Dresden and was run as a private company until its compulsory acquisition by the GDR in 1971.

At the same time, in 1949, Dr. Christine Weber-Unger, née Helbig, together with her husband Dr. Heinrich Weber-Unger, founded the company Anita Dr. Helbig GmbH as it is known today in Brannenburg, Bavaria.

In the 1960s, Christine Weber-Unger was already developing special underwear for women who had undergone breast surgery, as well as the first breast forms. With great sensitivity for the needs of the women affected, a complete range of bras, bodies, breast forms and bathing costumes was developed.

This laid the foundations of what we now know now as the Anita care® range.

The close cooperation with affected women, with specialist shops, and with dedicated self-help groups was and still is of great significance. Only by doing this can we continue to improve and develop the quality, fit and comfort of our products.

Therefore, we would like to express our special thanks to the many women who have tested our products, our faithful specialist shops and the dedicated self-help groups for their decades of support and for their trust in our products and our company.
