Underwired Bras
Underwired bras are generally more popular than non wired bras and can offer excellent support, shape, comfort, durability and versatility to the wearer if you're in the right size. We notice here in the fitting room at EnVie that if the correct size is chosen that it can absolutely transform and streamline your silhouette which often comes as a great surprise and bonus to our ladies who hve been re-measured! Underwired bras can lift your boobs up and create your waistline again so that you look more elongated in the body.
The underwire helps to give each breast a defined shape rather than a natural, relaxed shape that you would get from wearing a non wired bra. It's really a personal choice as to what shape you want and if you've always worn an underwired bra you will probably want to continue doing so but often if comfort is your priority it could be worth considering a different type.
A properly fitted underwired bra should be comfortable to wear, with the underwire sitting snugly against the ribcage without any digging in. The centre of the bra should also fit as closely to the chest as possible, although in larger cup sizes this is not always possible. The back of the bra should anchor everything together. If the back rises up then you will not get the support you need. It's important that the back sits parallel across your back to hold everything in place.
Underwired bras do need a little more care than non wired bras and should be hand-washed to protect the underwires. Although if this is not practical, then using a lingerie wash bag will certainly pro-long the life of your bra and keep it from getting tangled with your other washing.
